Project Details

What We'll Be Doing

Participate in habitat restoration and native plant care at Lighthouse Field State Beach, helping to enhance habitat for overwintering monarch butterflies. Enjoy stunning coastal views while making a positive impact on this vital ecosystem.

What to Bring

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
  • Layered clothing appropriate for weather
  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
  • Filled reusable water bottle and snacks
  • A cup for coffee in the morning
  • Work gloves, hori horis, loppers and knee pads (if you have them)
  • A change of clothes for the after-party!

SCMTS will provide morning coffee and light snacks in addition to drink, meal, and raffle tickets for the after-party!

Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (SCMTS) coordinates Santa Cruz's annual National Trails Day event (part of a nationwide campaign by American Hiking Society), bringing together hundreds of volunteers and local partner organizations to celebrate and care for our trails. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, SCMTS is dedicated to creating and maintaining sustainable trail systems throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains.
