As part of a government-wide assault, thousands of federal workers have been indiscriminately fired from the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service. I’m appalled by President Trump’s extensive and unilateral cuts to the federal workforce. The federal government is the largest employer in Colorado, with 40,000 federal workers whose jobs have been cut or may be at risk. These reckless actions endanger our communities, our economy and our way of life.

I’m particularly concerned about impacts on western Colorado, where our local federal workers at the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management are the ones who manage public lands for the benefit of us all – restoring wildlife habitat, maintaining trails and campgrounds, and managing multiple uses that serve our communities.

According to polling released this week, 75% of Western voters, including more than two-in-three Republicans, are opposed to cutting funding for agencies like the US Forest Service, BLM, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and other public land management agencies.

Please take a stand against President Trump’s efforts to strip Coloradans of their livelihoods and undermine the important work of our federal government.
