Black Visions and CTUL's Future Fighters are holding a Juneteenth People's Assembly and Celebration!
10am - 1pm: We will be having a community conversation to explore our communities safety as it stands and to talk about our problems, possible solutions, and next steps to take together. NOTE: this space is only for Black people.
For parents and/or people with children who want to participate in the conversation, there will be supervised kids activities available for them during this time.
1pm-6:00: Juneteenth celebration with food, a 3v3 basketball tournament, kickball games, music and dance performances, a DJ, a popular education, and a conversation circle sharing stories of freedom.
The celebration portion is open to all and is a multigenerational celebration of Black life and resiliency that honors all our people. The People's Assembly is a Black-only space designed bring folks together across different experiences, to have facilitated conversations about what they want to see for our future. Our goal is convene people & organizations in Minneapolis who are most impacted by policing and get aligned around a shared vision of safety. Join us for this joy filled day to get connected with community and celebrate one another!
