Support Internet Access in the RGV Rural Communities: The Colonias

The pandemic has brought into relief the profound inequality in Internet access in the Rio Grande Valley, and Colonia residents suffer the most. They face slow connection speeds, long load times, low access to modern devices, and few WiFi hotspots.

LUPE members believe access to the internet is Right, therefore, they're urging elected officials to bring internet to their rural, unincorporated neighborhoods.

Your generosity will help us organize and work with colonia residents to take broadband connectivity to the colonias.

Colonia residents are most concerned with their children's educational opportunities and often struggled to help them complete their homework when school districts transitioned to distance learning. No child should depend on access to internet to complete schoolwork.
