HELP GET LOCAL FOLKS OUT OF A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Another COVID outbreak has been reported at the Alamance County Jail. Not only is this dangerous for the staff and those incarcerated, but it is reported that those entering the system have to spend their time in the equivalent of solitary confinement in an attempt to control the outbreak. This is not fair to those who are in jail for no other reason than for being poor.
Too many people are stuck in the Alamance County jail simply because they cannot afford to pay bail. These are frequently individuals that are awaiting trial... in other words, they have not been convicted.
Down Home Alamance is planning to bail out as many individuals as we can right now in this dangerous time. Last summer, we were able to bail out dozens of local residents through our efforts. However, this situation has once again become urgent due to this new outbreak and the inhumane conditions that come with "lock backs." While bail amounts vary, we estimate that we can bail out one individual for every $1,000 we raise.
PLEASE, GIVE WHAT YOU CAN NOW!
