Training for Occupational Therapists
Friday, April 29, Saturday, April 30, 2022, and mandatory follow up session
Friday, June 3, 2022.
This training is open exclusively to providers in the Occupational Therapy profession.
Through both pre-recorded and live didactic presentations, participants will first learn about TS, common co-morbidities, and the general strategy for treating TS. In addition, the behavioral model on which CBIT is based will be reviewed. The various assessment tools used to gauge treatment progress will be described. In the afternoon, using didactic instruction, video, and live demonstration, participants will learn many of the core components of the CBIT treatment.
Please note that trainees are required to have a client with a tic disorder for the course of the training, and this client may not be related to them.
If you are an OTA, you must have a CBIT certified OT you work with to proceed with training and mentorship.
Your mentor will need to join one CBIT session with you and your client. This can be virtual (Zoom, etc) or live. If schedules do not permit, you will need to record a full session and send to your mentor. This is non-negotiable, so please be sure you get permission for this before participating in this training.
The mentoring times are scheduled between you and your mentor, but you must complete the 5 mentoring sessions. This is part of the training/certification. You will not be certified as a CBIT provider without this step. Each mentor will present options for how you will meet for sessions (phone, email, virtual) and work out a suitable schedule. You must successfully complete each aspect of the mentorship rubric with your mentor. If a client starts and stops prior to you finishing the certification process, you and your mentor will decide the next steps.
Registration for the February Training will close on Friday, April 15, 2022. Upon completion of the registration below, attendees will be asked to sign a Participant Memorandum of Understanding (PMU) and to send a copy of their license to Briana Fonseca at briana.fonseca@tourette.org.
